Ramadan is a time of reflection, self development and an opportunity to increase ones deeds by doing more for the community. During this blessed months Muslims around the world donate millions of pounds to charities and worthy causes, during this month one is encouraged to give more. With this in mind we decided to run an initiative last year called 'Ramadan Food Run 2016' The plan was simple, we collect essential food items from the Muslim community and do food drops to local food banks and referral centres, as well as giving the food we also gave a compliment slip as well as a jar of sweets with a customised message to the actual centres explaining a little bit about the initiative and giving our thanks for the amazing work they do.
We were amazed to have completed food drops to 20 different centres across the Greater Manchester area. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of the Masajids part of the Feed-A-Friend network who supplied foot items, Apna Cash and Carry as well as Kascho for allowing us to collect items from their customers as well as the amazing volunteers who organised and distributed the bags of food items.
Overall a fantastic initiative, we look forward to Ramadan Food Run 2017 this year, the benchmark has been set...
